At PROformance the youth development program is recommended for athletes between the ages of twelve and fourteen.

PROformance philosophy:

Under twelve years of age...

  • Young athletes should cross-train with a variety of sports and movements to improve their personal skill set

  • Over-specialization leads to chronic injury, demotivation and frustration, all symptoms which should not be associated with youth

  • Physical and mental age is not completely formed thereby limiting training profit

Over twelve years of age...

  • Some sports begin specializing and ranking

  • Athlete begins adolescent growth stages

  • Time to build habits and skills which motivate and discipline an athlete

  • Appropriate age to begin habits and skills which balance motivation, discipline and work ethic to form a well-adjusted individual

  • The program focus is on confidence and development of strength training technique and sport specific skill
